10 Warning Signs That You’ve Been Brainwashed

5) You Neglect Your Own Mind, Body, and Soul

Blacks are dying at alarming rates from diseases that are preventable and curable: diabetes, heart disease, and stress. Yes, black people have had to learn to survive on less: less money, less food, less healthcare, less time, etc. But why don’t we develop healthy habits whenever we can, when there’s really nothing stopping use beyond or lack of willpower? It’s because we’re brainwashed. We’re taught to think “that’s how black folks eat.” We associate our culture and heritage with unhealthy foods and unhealthy proportions of those foods. Since we think blacks are naturally more curvy than whites, we don’t try to control our weight, and we criticize those who do. Because we think blacks are superhuman when it comes to dealing with stress and mental illnesses, we suffer needlessly from psychological turmoil, afraid to seek help because of the stigma that it holds in our communities. On top of all the violence, we slowly commit suicide. Yes, we’re all going to die anyway, but does that mean you put a bullet in your own head? So why would you put a disease in your own body?

  1. A major co-sign, from the first page to the last. It seems as though I definitely have to get my hands on Mr. Burrell’s book. This is a truth that, sadly, a lot of African-Americans MUST hear. Even though it will hurt, they must hear it. I used to tell friends that the only reason blacks were ever set “free” was because our oppressors knew that the physical man would be free, but the inner man would always be a slave. As you could see in this generation, their plan worked.

  2. Thanks for the comments Morgan. Mr. Burrell’s book really made me take a look at my own self, and it explained somethings more clearly than I’ve ever heard, so I think everyone, even non-blacks, can benefit from the read.

It’s depressing sometimes, but rather than stay depress, I try to spread insight and encourage whomever I can.

    Peace,

    Sarah

  4. Society has us brainwashed in so many respects. For instance, when younger, I told my parents I would not eat meat. Society told them I would get weak and sick and show signs of malnutrition without meat, so they tricked me into eating it, then tried to brainwash me into thinking it was for the best.
