About SLW

The Blog

S. L. Writes shares the initials of it’s creator, Sarah L. Webb (me!). This blog is here to turn the usual footnote into a headline, to connect with people from around the world interested in multiple stories, alternative narratives, and the complexity of mistakenly simple topics. I’ve started with the stories of my childhood trusting that others will somehow find them useful. The ultimate goal, regardless of the content on S. L. Writes, is to inspire and encourage others to tell their own stories truthfully and courageously.

The Life

Now that that’s taken care of, here’s more basic information about me. I graduated from Mississippi State University in 2008 and earned a Master’s degree from California College of the Arts in 2010. Though it took a couple of minor crises, I finally stuck with my vision of being a writer and educator. After graduating from CCA, I taught high school English in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for two years. Currently, I teach undergraduate writing courses at the University of Phoenix, tutor students of all ages in writing and reading, and manage a variety of freelance writing projects and speaking engagements.
